Working on paper has always been a staple – the Personality of things is still a concern albeit less obviously here . As always there is a concern that things appear to be certainly something but uncertainly something specific . There are collage elements – some parts are much older ( one part of The common dream for example is from 2002 ) . There was certainly a want to combine and combust these elements . There is very little pause in these works . I think I hoped at the time that they would operate like a charge or jolt .
